Did you see the movie "21" or the History Channel’s “Breaking Vegas” about the phenomenal success of the MIT Blackjack team? Here’s your chance to hear true confessions from Jon Hirschtick, P’19, one of the card counters himself, who made the casinos quake. This is the real deal from an insider’s point of view you will never hear anywhere else!
Jon–seasoned entrepreneur and founder of SolidWorks and Onshape–will demystify card counting by teaching you and your friends how to use the same methods his MIT teammates used to win millions of dollars. You will even learn techniques most card sharks don't know.
Hear true tales of life as a high roller in Las Vegas and Atlantic City as you learn the game of “21” and how to improve your odds against the house. You do not need to be a math whiz. And leaving your wallet at home is encouraged. Anyone can do it and it’s especially fun for beginners. This one-time event is ideal for any party.
Jon will join you for a minimum of two hours with cards, chips and instructional materials to demonstrate how the game is played. He will regale you with true stories of gambling life – some hilarious and some hair-raising, but all true. Winning bidder will also receive an autographed copy of “Bringing Down the House: The Inside Story of Six MIT Students Who Took Vegas for Millions.”

Learn exactly what it takes to run the New England Aquarium day to day. From making sure the animals are healthy to inspecting the tanks and introducing new animals into the exhibits, Aquarium biologists work hard every day to make sure the Aquarium runs smoothly. (After all, the animals still need to eat on weekends and holidays!) Now it’s your chance to get a peek at the life behind the glass. Join an educator for a personalized behind-the-scenes tour of one of our many galleries. You will learn what the animals eat, how their tanks are maintained, how sick animals are nursed back to health, and other insider tidbits.
You will also get the opportunity to feed and learn all about Myrtle the Turtle and her habitat.
You will start with a personalized tour spiraling up the exhibit’s ramp alongside Aquarium staff members who know Myrtle and her tank mates the best. Leave the public exhibit path and slip behind the scenes for a guided peek at the science, technology, husbandry, and food preparation necessary to manage this 200,000-gallon exhibit. Every day is different, you never know what you’ll see. The highlight of the experience is a chance to step out onto the platform where surface feedings take place. You might serve up krill to needlefish or even a head of lettuce to Myrtle herself.
